About the Book

About the Authors

Paul Skousen is an American constitutional scholar, author, and university professor with extensive and in-depth research on the U.S. Constitution and the socialization of America. He served in the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and as a White House intelligence officer for President Reagan. He holds a master's degree in National Security Studies from Georgetown University and a degree in Journalism from Brigham Young University. He has authored 15 books.

Fang Wei is a seasoned media professional, American civics scholar, and high-tech expert, with over 30 years of experience in the technology and media industries. He has founded multiple media and technology companies, and hosts and participates in programs such as "Fang Wei Time," "Into America," and the large-scale historical series "Stories of American History," demonstrating deep research into American history and contemporary affairs. Fang Wei graduated from Fudan University in Shanghai and earned a master's degree in Computer Science from the University of Iowa in the United States.

Foreword

In 1607, 104 English entrepreneurs and explorers settled on a small island in North America. This settlement was named Jamestown. They built a central warehouse to store all food and required everyone to "contribute according to their ability, and be distributed according to their needs."

But the truth was—neither threats nor punishments could drive everyone to work hard. Because no one wanted to toil for others unpaid, like slaves. This led to severe food shortages and starvation, compounded by illness, causing many deaths. By Christmas, only 38 people remained.

The next year, several hundred new immigrants arrived, but the problem was the same—only 40 men were actually working; everyone else was just going through the motions. That winter, the residents almost all starved to death.

In the third year, another 500 new immigrants joined. These unfortunate residents first consumed all the food and livestock; then they hunted small animals and ate boiled leather shoes; after everything was gone, they resorted to eating the bodies of the dead. By the spring of the fourth year, only 60 people in Jamestown had survived.

This was a failed socialist experiment in an early North American colony. Chinese friends would find this very similar to China's "People's Communes" of that era. This socialist system, where property was shared and labor was collective under violent coercion, has caused immense suffering and is notorious worldwide, making it easy to identify.

However, there is another type of socialism that does not involve violent revolution, and it has been difficult for many to detect. For over a century, it has been quietly advancing its goals in Western societies. Moreover, many of these goals have already been achieved or partially achieved. They operate under dazzling banners like "science," "progress," "equality," and "social justice," seemingly concerned with public welfare, but in reality, they exploit human greed and envy to seize power and constantly erode precious human freedom.

Not only that, these socialists, like those in totalitarian socialist countries, destroy people's faith, corrupt their morals, propagate evolution and atheism, promote sexual liberation and homosexuality, and legalize drugs by controlling various fields such as judiciary, education, and media... Once human morality degenerates to a point where it no longer meets the standards of being human, humanity will face the doom of destruction. This is the ultimate goal of socialism.

The German poet Hölderlin famously said, "What has always made the state a hell on earth has been precisely that man has tried to make it his heaven." This statement is profoundly philosophical and applies perfectly to both totalitarian socialist regimes and Western socialists who incrementally advance their goals.

The renowned philosopher and economist Ludwig von Mises put it succinctly: "It [socialism] is not the pioneer of a better world, but the destroyer of the fruits of thousands of years of civilization; it does not build, it destroys, for destruction is its essence."

The primary purpose of this book is to deeply reveal the true nature of socialism to you. Although the facts and arguments used in this book are mostly based on examples from the United States, it will be instructive for you no matter where you are, because these issues exist in all countries, differing only in degree. The arguments in this book are primarily based on the U.S. Constitution and universal values. The former has served as a model for many countries in drafting their own constitutions.
