About the Authors

Paul Skousen is an American constitutional scholar, author, and university professor with extensive and in-depth research on the US Constitution and the Americanization of socialism. He previously served in the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and as a White House intelligence officer for President Reagan. He holds a master's degree in National Security Studies from Georgetown University and a degree in Journalism from Brigham Young University. He has authored 15 books.

Fang Wei is a veteran media professional, American common sense scholar, and high-tech individual. With over 30 years in the technology and media industries, he has founded several media and technology companies. He has hosted and participated in "Fang Wei Time," "Into America," and the large-scale historical program "Stories of American History," conducting in-depth research on American history and contemporary affairs. Foreword

In the early 1830s, French political philosopher Alexis de Tocqueville traveled to the United States to observe its nascent democratic system. He was amazed to discover that American schoolchildren and ordinary citizens had a profound understanding of the Constitution and the American system. Returning to France, Tocqueville spent several years writing his celebrated work, "Democracy in America," which later became a classic study of American politics.

The widespread knowledge of the U.S. Constitution among the populace was largely thanks to the booklet "Questions and Answers on the American Constitution," published in 1828. Its author, Arthur J. Stansbury, a Maryland legislator and lawyer, was approached by a pastor friend who expressed concern that Americans did not understand the Constitution and suggested that an easy-to-understand question-and-answer format would greatly help people grasp it. Stansbury agreed wholeheartedly.

Subsequently, Stansbury, drawing on his professional knowledge and research, combined with the opinions of other legal experts, meticulously compiled this easy-to-understand "Questions and Answers on the American Constitution." The first edition was a great success, followed by numerous reprints, and became a textbook in elementary, middle, and even high schools and universities across the United States. During the American Civil War, it was even distributed to soldiers for reading. It is estimated that from 1828 to the early 20th century, at least several million copies of this book were published.
