This is an upgraded classic of the Cold War... The book is rich in data and clear in logic... After reading it, it serves as a stark reminder: communism has never truly "nakedly" retreated, and it continues to challenge human values with a new facade. Highly recommended for all readers who care about freedom and truth, worth repeated reading.

"It is impossible to coexist with communism on the same planet. Either it is allowed to spread like cancer, eventually destroying humanity; or humanity must completely abandon communism."
—Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn
Foreword
In 1958, "The Naked Communist" was published, quickly becoming a bestseller and receiving widespread acclaim. Within a few years, sales surpassed the million-mark. In the 1980s, during Ronald Reagan's presidency, if you asked an American if they had read or heard of this book, almost everyone would nod.
The book also garnered attention from intelligence agencies, receiving high praise from the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and being hailed as the "Cold War Bible" by the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), with every intelligence officer having a copy.
The author, W. Cleon Skousen, was a popular historian, speaker, and bestselling author. He spent 16 years of his career in the FBI, during which he began his research into communism. This book is the culmination of decades of his dedicated study.
In 1961, Skousen added "The 45 Goals of Communism" to the eighth edition of the book. These goals aimed to destroy American culture and ultimately subvert the United States, drawing attention from high levels of the U.S. government and being recorded in the Congressional Record.
Regrettably, Professor Paul Skousen, Cleon's son, discovered through his research that as of 2017, 44 of "The 45 Goals of Communism" had already been achieved or partially achieved! Consequently, he revised the book, incorporating his research findings into a 60th-anniversary edition. Interest in the book surged again, leading to explosive sales.
Professor Paul Skousen is a mentor and friend to veteran media professional Fang Wei. The two agreed to publish a Chinese edition of the book. Fang Wei noted that although the book has had a profound impact worldwide, its early publication left two regrets: First, the history of the global anti-communist movement only covered up to 1960, leaving a blank of over 70 years from the 1960s to the present. During this period, the entire world underwent dramatic changes. For example, the process of the Soviet Union's dissolution serves as a good reference for peacefully dismantling the Chinese Communist Party today; the actions of influential figures and the public in the past also offer valuable insights for people in today's world.
Therefore, in addition to translating the original work, Fang Wei also authored "The History of the CCP's Rise" and the history of the anti-communist movement from the 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis to the present, forming Chapters 11 to 17 of this 2025 Chinese augmented edition.
Another regret was that, due to the CCP's continuous "development" of communist theory, the book's analysis of its absurdities felt less targeted to Chinese readers. Therefore, Fang Wei also rewrote this section, making it more accessible and pertinent.
This 2025 Chinese augmented edition has four major features:
1. Analyzes the absurdity of communist philosophy, dismantling the theoretical foundation of the Communist Party;
2. Reveals the Communist Party's way of thinking and operating, and points out its weaknesses;
3. Proposes key matters for the peaceful dissolution of the Communist Party;
4. Presents the magnificent history of the global anti-communist movement through storytelling.
"The Art of War" states: "If you know yourself and your enemy, you will win a hundred battles without a single loss." As Chinese readers, whether you are in mainland China and wish to break free from the CCP's enslavement, or living overseas and want to defend the hard-won freedom, this book will help you understand the history of the Communist Party, its way of thinking and operating, and find the best strategies to defeat it.
